Glooms Rocked My World

Here are some pics from last week’s Chiptune Showcase. Seems like I was mesmerized by Glooms fiddling with the analogue visuals. Someone needs to make a GIF of the CRT screen changing!

KipJaw [MI] (https://soundcloud.com/kipjaw)~~
~First there were Commodore 64, Gameboy, and NES consoles used to make chiptune/8-bit music – but then, powerful computers and new age music production software emerged. Equipped with his favorite music tracker, KipJaw blends elements from both of these technological worlds into a unique atmosphere of nostalgia~

Glooms [SEA] (https://soundcloud.com/glooms)~~
~Using a wide arsenel of retro hardware, from Gameboys to the Sega Genesis, and killer software, from Ableton Live to Nanoloop and Piggy Tracker, Glooms delivers tunes that can only be described as dark, deep, cave, shiny mineral chiptune.~

Nikola Whallon [SEA] (https://soundcloud.com/nikola-whallon)~~
~In the year 199x, Nikola was born of two dragons into the age of the SNES. His love of SNES, N64, and Gameboy music would have such a great impact on the child’s life that when he came of age, these feelings of love and nostalgia would fuse and give birth to music that has the power to bring out the child in anyone.~

Starr Mazer – Kickstarter Project
YouTube Preview Image

Local Seattle indie film and game studio, Imagos Softworks, has put together one of the most insanely cool Kickstarter projects I’ve seen in awhile: Starr Mazer. Seriously, you gotta check this out!!

Starr Mazer blends two classic genres, the Point-and-Click Adventure and Classic-style Shoot ‘Em Up, into a retro-sexy sci-fi epic with modern design sensibilities, open-middled gameplay and RPG elements.

The game will feature a collection of talented chiptune artists from around the internet, including Alex Mauer, C-Jeff, Cheap Dinosaurs, Ctrix, Fighter X, Nickelpunk, Phlogiston, Sabrepulse, Virt, and more! If you thought this couldn’t get any better… all supports within the first 72 hours of the campaign will receive the “Zero Day backer poster with gold lettering and fancy boarders”.

The project ends on Feb 21st and is asking for $160,000. For $30, you will get the game, digital art book, and digital soundtrack (limited $10 savings). Hurry up and become a backer!
