Little news on the reason for these apparently being made available on Disney’s own website before promptly being pulled, all in the course of Friday–but here they are.
In all DP and Tron goodness, with a flair of the dramatic and quite clearly a movie score, (presumably the first) six tracks of their soundtrack for upcoming Tron Legacy, set to be released December 17th this year. No word on a release date for the soundtrack.
Photo of the day: Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer sign their new line of Venture Bros toys
The Venture Bros have been a big attraction at the con all weekend with various Adult Swim panels and cast appearances throughout. Today I attended the venture-filled panel of joys featuring creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer, as well as voice actors James Urbaniak and Patrick Warburton (my personal favorite due to his role as The Tick in Fox’s short-lived live action adaptation).
Seeing Jackson and Doc is always great, though I was much more mesmerized by the other two voice talents. Both Urbaniak and Warburton thoroughly mesmerized my ears considering that their normal everyday voices sound pretty much exactly like the characters they play. All four panelists were indeed characters in and of themselves. The panel took a huge detour when Doc Hammer blasted off on an unbelievably long tangent about the movie “Incognito,” and Warburton seemed to give more shout outs to his 17 year old son than the show, but it was all good fun.
Eating around the lo-carb supplements, I still found a hearty and filling meal in the form of an epic preview reel for the upcoming “new season” (essentially the second half of season 4). The cast gave plenty of insight and commentary regarding the new season; just enough to tease but not enough to spoil. Later in the day, the two creators showed up at the Entertainment Earth booth to sign autographs and promote their new line of Venture Bros toys (or dolls or action figures or whatever you want to call them)!
Beautifully sculpted and dressed in real fabric, the toys look fantastic so far consisting of Brock Samson, the Monarch, Dr. Venture, Dean Venture, and Comic-Con exclusives Henchmen 21 and 24. More characters in the line are on the way and all will be available from Entertainment Earth and probably a bunch of other places. The first series of these is available for pre-order now with a vague estimated ship date of next month. Collect them all and you can reenact past episodes as you wait for the new ones to start airing on September 12th! Go Team Venture!
Full convention recap coming up next, so stick around.

Picture of the day: Behold--The Goon in the flesh!
To my delight, the award winning comic series The Goon by Eric Powell is on its way to becoming a full lenth animated film! If you are unfamiliar with the book, check it out asap!
Teeming with zombie-bashing horror/comedy charm, its got the perfect ingredients for the big screen. While it may not be as mega-hyped as Scott Pilgrim, ooh, this pending comic-to-film adaptation deserves some serious cred and I’m looking forward to it just as much.
Animated by Blur Studio, starring Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti, and of course, written by Eric Powell, the film promises to stay true to the series and include the complete cast of lovable Goon characters.
Unfortunately, the film has not yet been picked up by a major studio, but the Goon team has completed a short pitch reel to show exactly what the film will be like, and with any luck help obtain the funding to go the distance. Check out the clip online at MTV.com, and get pumped for some serious slack-jaw bone-crushin’ action–Goon style.
One more highlight to go, then a full recap when I return.

Welcome Stenobot, the newest addition to the CrunchyCo lineup!
Hailing from our little town of Seattle, WA, Stenobot fuses chiptune melodies, beats and bits of noise with guitars, classic keyboards and often his own vocals in the creation of remarkably human electronic pop music.
Stenobot has been an integral third of local chip-hop group Supercommuter for the past 2 1/2 years, but is now bringing his own personal sound to the forefront with his debut Crunchy release, Sink or Swim We’ll Go Together.
This August, join us on this 12-song adventure guided by the man himself, enlisting help from several friends including Jen Wood, Jeff Suffering, and Supercommuter cohort Tron Juan.
Lucky track number seven, Fallen Leaves, is available to preview here, now, for those who have difficulty waiting.
Sink or Swim… will be available on August 24th as a free digital download (with optional PayPal donation) or a deluxe-version CD. The physical release will feature a handmade photo book by Liralen Isaac—one photo corresponding to each track. All proceeds from sales of both versions of the record will go directly to Child’s Play, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children with toys and games in hospitals worldwide.
Photo of the day: Michael Cera answers fan questions at the Scott Pilgrim movie panel while appropriately dressed as Captain America...
The Scott Pilgrim comic series by Brian Lee O’Malley came out in 2004, with the sixth and final volume released just earlier this week.
The book’s immense popularity has now spawned a feature film AND a Ubisoft video game. Both will be available in August–the film in theaters and the game on the PlayStation Network. If you haven’t read the book, I recommend you do!
As for the movie, I was skeptical at first but attending the Scott Pilgrim movie panel at the con has me convinced. And while the movie looks great, the game looks even better! A beautifully pixelated retro-style beat-em-up based on Scott Pilgrim with a soundtrack by Anamanaguchi? How cool is that!?
After trying the game out for myself, I must say it did not disappoint. I will surely be rocking this game on my PS3 as soon as it comes out. Killzone 3? Little Big Planet 2? Psh. Whatev. SP is where it’s at.
Stick around, more word from the con tomorrow!
