Good times last night @ The Lookout! Thanks to anyone who came out to say hello.

We put these costumes together last minute; bought black shirts a few hours before the show, cut off the sleeves, and spray painted our own “design”. This was supposed to be similar to our last show as Smuggling Chewbacca, where we also had sleeveless shirts with spray paint. The SWAG on our butt was done for the twerking skit during 16yogirls.

The venue, time, and PA could have been better, let’s book some more swagalicious shows this summer!

Surprise! KGHB decided to play a show after taking a break for a few years. This is to support our friend Kellyn’s touring band, The Main Arcade. This show celebrates the end of the Main Arcade’s west-coast tour AND release of their debut album “Think of the Impact You Can Make”.

Hopefully KGHB will play more shows this summer because it forces the band to get together and come up with new material! Expect to hear at least 2-3 new tracks

EMP Sound Off!

As some may remember, KGHB was featured in Sound Off, Seattle’s annual “premier” 21 & under music competition. In 2008, we mailed in a demo for entry and were the first ones picked. For anyone interested, below is what the demo sounded like. It was pretty much a rushed and badly recorded version of BSOD.

Sound Off 2009 was a great experience, and we went away with the “listeners choice” award, which prizes included some free Kaoss Pad products. Below is a live track from the Sound Off! Volume Two compilation. Sorry about the weird noises, I don’t think that was intentional…

During the stormy weekend, KGHB came into Crunchy Studios (aka Aaron’s bedroom) to record vocals for an upcoming 4 track EP titled “Chimptunes”. More details TBA.

It’s been a pretty interesting experience trying to restore the site after the hack… with WordPress always changing, I find many of plugins stop working. The old audio player we were using completely disappeared! Hopefully this new one stays around for awhile:

Born2chip

Another project of mine was to make navigation easier and add some goodies. For example, you can now go to “releases” and download any ZIP without viewing the album’s full page. You have the same options in “simple view“, so use this if you plan on downloading many albums at once. Now there are (!) icons next to songs in album tables that have extra details, such as lyrics (see KGHB).

Speaking of releases, I went through my collection and added some long-lost releases that were listed as unavailable. These are CR13, CR11, and CR05.
